Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury stated on Saturday that the national economy is poised for a significant turnaround through the proper implementation of the current fiscal year's budget, backed by rising interest from foreign investors.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting road renovation works at Ishan Mistry Hat in Chattogram, the Finance Minister highlighted that Bangladesh is rapidly transforming into a major hub for international investment. He noted a surge in interest from global markets, particularly from Chinese investors and affirmed that the government is actively building a highly supportive environment to accommodate them.
The minister emphasized plans to establish Chattogram as the country's primary logistics hub. "Once the port, economic zones, and free zones become fully operational, they will inject new momentum into our regional economy," he said. He specifically committed to accelerating infrastructure development for the Chinese Economic Zone in Anwara, which has already received approval from the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
Chowdhury concluded that these strategic projects will firmly establish Chattogram as the nation's commercial capital. During the visit, he was accompanied by Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain.
