


The MV LOWLANDS PATRASCHE, which is carrying 60,950 metric tons of wheat from the United States, has reached the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port. Emdad Islam, the Senior Information Officer and Public Relations Officer of the Food Ministry, confirmed this on Friday (December 5).
He mentioned that the importation of wheat has commenced under the cash purchase agreement number G to G-01, following the memorandum of understanding established between the United States and the Bangladeshi government. According to this agreement, a total of 440,000 metric tons of wheat is to be imported, with the first shipment of 56,959 metric tons arriving on October 25, the second shipment of 60,802 metric tons on November 3, and the third shipment of 60,875 metric tons on November 15. This marks the fourth shipment of imported wheat.
Under the terms of the agreement, 239,586 metric tons of wheat have been delivered to the country in four shipments from the United States.
The testing of wheat samples from the ship has already commenced. Following the testing of the wheat samples, appropriate actions will be taken to expedite the unloading process.
