To support lactating mothers seeking medical care a modern and well-equipped breastfeeding corner was officially inaugurated at the Baghaichhari Upazila Health Complex on Thursday.
Baghaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amena Marjan opened the facility at 1:00 PM.
The initiative provides mothers with a clean safe and private environment to nurse their infants eliminating the discomfort of breastfeeding in crowded public waiting areas. The newly decorated space features comfortable seating, proper ventilation, safe drinking water and children's toys. It also includes educational posters highlighting the benefits of breast milk and maternal health.
Speaking at the inauguration UNO Amena Marjan emphasized the necessity of the facility. "A designated breastfeeding space is essential in a busy hospital environment," she said. "Mothers often face long wait times for treatment. This corner ensures their comfort and will play a vital role in protecting maternal and child health."
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Nadimul Islam welcomed the timely addition. He noted that the facility will significantly reduce the mental and physical stress mothers experience during hospital visits, ensuring that infants receive breast milk on time.
The event was attended by Resident Medical Officer Dr. Anwar Hossain, Baghaichhari Press Club General Secretary Anwar Hossain, hospital staff, and local dignitaries.
