A nationwide Artificial Intelligence (AI) training programme aimed at equipping 11,200 young people across Bangladesh with advanced digital skills was officially launched in Bogura on Sunday.

Organised by the Department of Youth Development the project seeks to expand youth employment and boost the country's digital economy by empowering local freelancers to compete in the global marketplace.

State Minister for Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam inaugurated the regional event at Momin Auditorium. In his address, he highlighted the government's ambitious target to create one crore jobs over the next 18 months, noting that Bogura has the potential to transform into Bangladesh's first fully developed digital hub through targeted e-learning initiatives.

Speaking as the chief guest State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque stressed that the government’s core objective is to ensure full employment through practical skills development. He assured the public of strict project accountability.

"Unlike in the past every initiative will now be evaluated based on measurable outcomes" Haque said. "We will maintain a database of beneficiaries and closely monitor how many trainees secure actual employment."

Beyond technology the ministers reaffirmed commitments to broader regional infrastructure including the Sirajganj-Bogura railway a new airport and a multidisciplinary university. Haque also announced plans to establish international-standard sports villages in 10 regions including Bogura to nurture grassroots athletic talent for global competitions like the Olympics.

The Bogura inauguration marked the simultaneous rollout of the first batch of AI training programmes across all eight divisions.
