Police recovered a large cache of live ammunition on Saturday afternoon after conservancy workers discovered the bullets inside a drain in the city's Bayezid Bostami area.
The discovery occurred near Gate No. 5 of the BSRM plant in the Shershah Banglabazar neighborhood while workers were conducting routine cleaning operations. Upon being alerted, a team from the Bayezid Bostami Police Station responded to the site and secured the area.
Bayezid Bostami Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Mustafa Kamal confirmed the recovery, stating that the cache includes 120 large-caliber rounds and over 1,200 smaller rounds. Preliminary assessments suggest the larger bullets are designed for high-powered weapons, including assault rifles.
Law enforcement authorities have seized the ammunition and launched a formal investigation to determine how the bullets ended up in the public drain and to identify the individuals or groups responsible for hiding them.
