Health Minister Inspects Morelganj Hospital During Surprise Visit

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain (Bokul) made a surprise visit to Morelganj Upazila Health Complex on Saturday morning to inspect patient services and administrative oversight.

Arriving at 10:00 am, the minister spent two and a half hours inspecting the facilities. His assessment focused on patient care quality, cleanliness, staff attendance, food quality, doctor shortages and overall hospital management.

During the inspection the minister discovered a large quantity of expired medicines stored in an abandoned building within the complex. Expressing disappointment over the waste he noted that public funds must not be squandered while citizens struggle to access essential medication. He promised swift administrative action following consultations with the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

"The public elected us, and we are accountable to them," the minister stated, reassuring residents that measures will be taken to resolve staff shortages and improve services.

He also inspected an adjacent private clinic and instructed district authorities to verify its operating licenses and documentation. Bagerhat Deputy Commissioner Golam Md. Baten, Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikardar and local administration officials accompanied the minister during the visit.
