In a landmark initiative to secure the financial future of its most vulnerable workforce, Jhalakathi Municipality has launched the "Samata" pension scheme for 87 sanitation workers. Notably, the municipality is financing the scheme entirely from its own funds.

The welfare program was officially inaugurated on Sunday morning, July 12, at the municipal conference room. Jhalakathi Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Md. Momin Uddin attended the launch as the chief guest, while Municipality Administrator and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Kawsar Hossain presided over the event.

Speaking at the ceremony, officials emphasized that this initiative aims to ensure long-term social and economic security for sanitation workers, recognizing their essential but often overlooked contributions to public health. Various municipal and district administration officials were present to mark the occasion.
