Two men a driver and his assistant, were killed when their stone-laden truck overturned and caught fire on the Kushtia bypass road on Sunday morning (June 21).

The accident occurred around 8:30 am between the Trimohani and Batoil areas. Authorities identified the driver as Anichur Rahman Anis of Faridpur district. The identity of his assistant remains unknown.

According to Kushtia Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Sekender Ali, the truck was traveling from Chapainawabganj’s Sonamasjid area toward Khulna. The vehicle lost control, crashed through a culvert railing, and plunged into a ditch before catching fire.

Fire Service responders quickly arrived at the scene, extinguished the blaze, and recovered Anis's body from the cabin. Rescue operations are currently ongoing to retrieve the assistant's body, which remains trapped under the spilled cargo.
