An awareness workshop aimed at preventing the circulation of counterfeit currency and enhancing public awareness on the issue was held in Muksudpur, Gopalganj.

The “Counterfeit Currency Prevention and Public Awareness Workshop-2026” was organized on Saturday (June 20) at 10:00 AM at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium by the Muksudpur Branch of Sonali Bank PLC, with the cooperation of all banks and financial institutions operating in the upazila.

The chief guest of the event was Md. Monjur Rahman, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank, Khulna Office. The workshop was presided over by Muksudpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mahmud Ashiq Kabir and moderated by Ratan Kumar Das, Senior Principal Officer of Sonali Bank PLC, Muksudpur Branch.

Special guests included Abul Kalam Azad, Deputy General Manager of Sonali Bank PLC Principal Office, Gopalganj; Md. Mizanur Rahman, Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank, Khulna Office; Muksudpur Upazila BNP President A. Salam Khan; and General Secretary Tarikul Islam Raju.

Among others, Md. Chiru Mia, President of Muksudpur Press Club, also addressed the gathering. Present at the event were Abul Bashar Tultu Biswas, President of Muksudpur Municipal BNP; Mashiur Rahman Mintu, General Secretary; Kazi Md. Ohidul Islam, General Secretary of Muksudpur Press Club; officials and employees of various banks in the upazila, local businesspersons, journalists from print and electronic media, and people from different walks of life.

Speakers at the workshop emphasized the importance of public awareness in identifying and preventing counterfeit currency. They noted that public vigilance and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders are essential to curbing the spread of fake notes.

During the session, Md. Mizanur Rahman, Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank, Khulna Office, provided a detailed presentation using a projector on the techniques for identifying counterfeit currency, key security features of genuine banknotes, and preventive measures to combat counterfeit note circulation.This version is suitable for publication in English newspapers, news portals, and official reports.
