To promote women’s empowerment, food security, and healthcare, 120 families in Faridpur’s Boalmari Upazila received "Family Cards" today.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman inaugurated the initiative virtually on Wednesday (June 17) afternoon at the Kadirdi High School grounds in Satair Union, marking the program's official launch in the district.
The nationwide program is rolling out simultaneously across 20 upazilas in 20 districts. In Boalmari, 120 women from Satair Union's Ward No. 1 received the cards. Guests symbolically handed the cards to 10 beneficiaries at the event, while the Union Parishad will distribute the rest in phases. Officials confirmed that all beneficiaries were successfully integrated into the mobile banking system on launch day.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Mazharul Islam chaired the event, with Reserved Seat MP Helena Jerin Khan attending as the chief guest. Special guests included District Council Administrator Afzal Hossain Khan Palash, Superintendent of Police Md. Nazrul Islam, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan, and central Krishak Dal Vice-President Khandaker Nasirul Islam. Local administration officials, including Boalmari UNO SM Rakibul Hasan, alongside local BNP leaders and community members, were also present.
Speakers emphasized that the Family Card program will streamline women-centric social security, food assistance, and healthcare. By connecting disadvantaged families directly to state services, the initiative is expected to play a vital role in women's socioeconomic empowerment.
