Engineer Belayet Hossain Appointed New CDA Chairman

Engineer Belayet Hossain has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) for a one-year term on a contractual basis.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued an official notification to this effect on Thursday (June 11), signed by Md. Golam Rabbani, Deputy Secretary of the Contract and Foreign Employment Branch.

According to the official circular, the appointment was made by order of the President in the public interest, in accordance with Section 7(1) of the Chattogram Development Authority Act, 2018.

As a condition of his new role, Engineer Hossain must sever all other professional ties, businesses, or employment relationships with any government, semi-government, or private organizations. His one-year tenure will begin on the date he officially assumes office. The remaining terms and benefits of his service will be finalized through a formal contract.

He succeeds Engineer Md. Nurul Karim, who had been serving as the CDA Chairman since his three-year contractual appointment on September 2, 2024.
