A local leader of the Jubo Dal, the youth wing of the BNP, was seriously injured after being attacked and hacked by miscreants in Lohagara Upazila of Narail on Wednesday night.

The victim, Md. Kalam Molly (34), is the joint convener of the Mauli Union Jubo Dal under Naragati Police Station in Kalia Upazila. He is the son of the late Apil Uddin Molly of Kathadhura village.

According to family and local sources, the incident occurred around 9:00 PM near the Char Dighalia bridge, south of Dighalia Bazar. Miscreants blocked the road while Kalam was riding his motorcycle home from Lohagara. They attacked him with sharp weapons, inflicting severe wounds on his left hand and leg.

Locals rescued Kalam and rushed him to the Lohagara Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, the attending doctor referred him to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Pangu Hospital) in Dhaka for advanced treatment.

Lohagara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahman stated that police have inspected the scene and launched an investigation to identify and arrest those involved.
