An 18-month-old girl has died from measles-like symptoms in Faridpur, bringing the district's death toll to 21.
The child, Tanha, daughter of Din Islam from Hasandia village in Boalmari upazila, passed away on Thursday. She had been admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital on June 4.
The outbreak continues to spread, with 62 new patients admitted to government hospitals across the district in the past 24 hours, according to Faridpur Civil Surgeon Dr. Mahmudul Hasan. During the same period, 41 patients recovered and were discharged.
Currently, 178 patients—the vast majority of whom are children—are receiving treatment for measles symptoms in district facilities.
"Due to the rising number of infections, we strongly urge parents to ensure their children are fully vaccinated," Dr. Hasan advised. Health officials emphasize that parents should seek immediate medical attention if their child develops a fever, cold, cough, or red spots on the skin.
