


The Narail Narcotics Control Department arrested a 54-year-old woman, Ruchia Begum, on Monday after discovering 38 kg of marijuana hidden in her home.
The raid took place around 12:30 PM in Pakhimara Madhyapara village, under Pahardanga Union of Naragati police station. Acting on a tip-off, officials searched the residence of the late Tariqul Sardar, where they found the drugs stashed in bags beneath a bed.
Golok Majumdar, Deputy Director of the Narail Narcotics Control Department, confirmed the seizure. The market value of the confiscated marijuana is estimated at 15.2 lakh BDT.
During interrogation, Ruchia Begum named an associate, Bipul Sardar (39), who managed to flee the scene before officers arrived. Authorities have handed the suspect over to Naragati police, and a case has been filed against both individuals under the Narcotics Control Act. Naragati Police Station OC, Abdur Rahim, confirmed that efforts to apprehend the absconding suspect are ongoing.
