


Paikgachha Upazila observed Genocide Day on Wednesday, March 25, with deep respect for the martyrs of 1971. The day’s programs began at 8:00 AM as the Upazila administration placed floral wreaths at the Kapilmuni Massacre Memorial Pillar to honor those who lost their lives.
Later, at 11:30 AM, a discussion meeting was held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. Chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury, the event brought together government officials, freedom fighters, political leaders, and students.
Speakers at the meeting highlighted the historical significance of the day, urging the younger generation to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War. The gathering included Upazila Health Officer Dr. Ahsanara Binte Ahmed, Agriculture Officer Ekramul Hossain, and former Freedom Fighter Commander Ruhul Amin Gazi, alongside representatives from various local organizations and the press club.
The program, moderated by SFDF Officer GM Zakaria, began with a minute of silence. It concluded with a special prayer led by Hafez Maulana Ashraful Islam, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls and the continued prosperity of the nation.
