Discussion Meeting Held in Maksudpur Marking Genocide Day

A discussion meeting was held in Maksudpur, Gopalganj, to observe Genocide Day 2026. The event was organized by the Upazila Administration and took place at the Upazila Parishad hallroom at 11:00 AM on Wednesday (March 25).

The meeting was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahmud Ashiq Kabir and was attended by officials from various government departments as well as local dignitaries.

Among the speakers were Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Raihan Islam Shovon, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Md. Matiar Molla, Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Md. Mizanur Rahman, Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Jahangir Alam, Upazila Youth Development Officer Saiyad Uddin Ahmed, Upazila Primary Education Officer M. A. Nayeem, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Md. Azizul Islam, Upazila Women Affairs Officer Laila Rahman, and Chairman of Bashbariya Union Parishad Moniruzzaman Molla. Member Secretary of the Upazila Freedom Fighters Command, Freedom Fighter Fayek Ali Molla, also spoke at the event.

The program was also attended by President of Maksudpur Press Club Md. Siru Mia, General Secretary Kazi Md. Wahidul Islam, and Publicity Secretary Md. Mamun Molla, along with local journalists.

During the discussion, speakers recalled the brutal genocide carried out on the night of March 25, 1971, and paid deep tribute to the martyrs. They also emphasized the importance of the true history of the Liberation War to the younger generation.
