Child Dies After Drowning in Pond in Chauddagram

A one-and-a-half-year-old girl named Alifa Akhter Aiman died after drowning in a pond at Chakalkhipur village in Chauddagram, Comilla, on Thursday.

The child was the daughter of Nurul Alam from Ujirpur Union. According to her uncle, Nur Nabi, the incident occurred around 11:00 am while family members were busy with household chores. Unnoticed, Aiman wandered out of the house and fell into a nearby pond.

After a frantic search, the family discovered her floating in the water. She was rushed to the Chauddagram Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Dr. Md. Javed of the hospital's emergency department confirmed the information, stating that the child had passed away before reaching the medical facility.
