The Chauddagram Upazila administration conducted multiple raids Saturday night to stop illegal soil cutting from croplands. Upazila Executive Officer Md. Nurul Amin fined one person 5 lakh taka for illegally removing soil behind Al Amin petrol pump in Chapua village of Kalikapur union. In a separate raid, three others were sentenced to 15 days imprisonment and fined 500 taka each for similar offenses in Dimatli area of Chiora union.

The team also raided Derkota area of Munshirhat union. However, soil-cutting machinery left after learning of the mobile court’s presence. Chauddagram Police assisted in the operations.

Md. Nurul Amin said regular operations are ongoing to protect cropland topsoil and punish illegal soil cutting. The Saturday night raids were part of continuous enforcement in three areas of the upazila.
