Kachchi Dine in Chawkbazar, Chattogram, has been fined Tk 3 lakh for serious food safety violations.

The operation was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sonia Haque on Thursday, February 26. Officials found food being prepared in unhygienic conditions, including cockroaches and rats in the kitchen and storage areas, damp floors, and unclean workspaces.

Other violations included missing purchase receipts, food workers without health certificates, and improperly labeled food products, such as Mawa, not following prescribed guidelines.

The fine was imposed under Section 33 of the Safe Food Act, 2013, and collected immediately. The operation involved officials from the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, Chattogram district and metropolitan offices, Chattogram City Corporation food safety inspectors, and a team from Chawkbazar Police Station. Authorities emphasized that such inspections will continue to ensure public health and safety.
