A brutal robbery took place at the house of a Swedish expatriate in Feni's Daganbhuiyan upazila. The family claimed that the robbers took the family members hostage at gunpoint and looted 70 bhori gold, 3,000 euros and cash, along with goods worth about 2 crore taka.

The incident took place on Friday (October 17) night at the house of Aziz Ulya Master in Chanpur village, adjacent to Silonia Bazar in Jaylskar Union of the upazila.

According to police and family sources, that night, the robbers entered the duplex house of Aziz Ulya Master's son Kamal Uddin Babul by cutting the iron grill and collapsible gate of the balcony. They then tied up the family members and looted 70 bhari gold, 3,000 euros, 4 lakh taka in cash, mobile phones and valuables in the house.

Labani Akhter, the elder daughter who returned from abroad and is a Swedish expatriate, recently returned to the country and was staying at her father's house. Her younger sister also lived in the same house. As family members, Babul Mia's wife, daughter and sisters together had about 70 bhari gold, which the robbers took away.

Babul Mia's wife and daughter were not at home that night. The robbers took Babul Mia, his two nephews and two sisters who were in the house hostage and tied them up at gunpoint. When they tried to stop them, Babul Mia was severely beaten. In the morning, neighbors came to know about the matter and informed the police, who visited the spot.

Locals claim that some identified terrorists active in the area are involved in the incident. There are multiple charges against them for drug dealing, robbery, kidnapping and extortion.

Daganbhuiyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Wahid Parvez said, "We have visited the scene after receiving the news. A drive is being launched to catch the robbers and preparations for the case are underway.

Feni Police Superintendent Md. Habibur Rahman inspected the scene and said that it is initially believed that acquaintances or known miscreants related to the house may have committed the incident. The criminals will be arrested quickly based on the complaint.
