A cigarette dealer was robbed of cash in a moving car in Rajapur upazila of Jhalakathi. The incident took place at the foot of the Putiakhali Sharif Bari bridge in the upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The injured cigarette dealer was traveling in a car with business money. At that time, unknown robbers stopped his car and hit him on the hand with a knife. Later, the miscreants snatched 1.5 lakh taka in cash that he had with him.

Locals said that they suddenly heard a scream and went to the spot and saw the businessman lying in a bloody state. Later, he was rescued and treated locally.

Panic spread in the area after the incident. Law enforcement agencies have been informed about this matter.
