3 Injured in AC Explosion at Chattogram Medical College Hospital

Three workers sustained burn injuries in an air conditioner (AC) explosion while carrying out repair work at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

The injured have been identified as Shawkat, Mishkat, and Tanvir—all of whom are outsourced employees under the Public Works Department.

The incident occurred around 11:30 AM on Monday (13 September) in the Gynecology Ward of the hospital.

Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukder of the Chattogram District Police, who is stationed at CMCH, confirmed the incident. He said the explosion happened suddenly during maintenance work on the AC unit. Two of the injured workers have been admitted to the burn unit, while the third, who reportedly fell from a height during the blast, is currently receiving treatment in the hospital’s ICU.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
