Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport successfully conducted a comprehensive firefighting drill on Wednesday (December 3) at 11:15 am, following directives from the Bangladesh Civil Aviation Authority Headquarters.
The exercise was staged adjacent to the cargo warehouse to evaluate the preparedness, effectiveness, and capacity of the airport's manpower, vehicles, and equipment in handling an emergency.
The drill involved a coordinated response from multiple agencies, including the Airport Fire Branch, AVSEC, APBN, the Bangladesh Air Force, Navy, Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defense, and the airport medical team.
According to Airport Public Relations Officer Engineer Mohammad Ibrahim Khalil, the scenario involved a sudden fire breaking out in abandoned garbage near the cargo area. Upon notification from the control tower, all participating teams rapidly mobilized and managed to bring the simulated blaze under control quickly.
The exercise was overseen by Airport Director Group Captain Sheikh Abdullah Alamgir and other senior officials.
