As part of the Animal Resources and Dairy Development Project, the inauguration of the Animal Resources Week-2025 and Exhibition Mall is taking place in Ishwardi, Pabna.
The mall was officially opened at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 26, at the Dak Bungalow premises within Ishwardi Municipality. Although the inauguration was initially scheduled for 10 am, the ceremony commenced at 11:30 am with a procession.
Subsequently, the day-long animal resources exhibition mall concluded in just 2 hours following a discussion meeting. During this time, aside from the guests, employees of the Animal Resources Department, and journalists, there were no attendees outside the mall. Local residents and several civil society leaders expressed concerns that the mall was organized hastily without adequate publicity. If the general public is unaware of the mall, how can they attend? This mall appears to be set up merely for the purpose of showcasing government project funding distribution.
There are doubts regarding the actual benefits to the community from such an arrangement. Upazila Animal Resources Officer Aklamia Khatun mentioned that the mall was organized with only a few days of preparation, making proper publicity unfeasible in such a limited timeframe. Consequently, the mall serves as a showcase venue, leading to the event being declared over by noon. Since it is a week-long event, we will begin fieldwork tomorrow. Participants in the event will receive awards by December 2.
The chief guest for the event will be Md. Monurizzaman, a non-marriage worker from Ishwardi Upazila. Additional Superintendent of Police Pranab Kumar will attend as an invited guest, along with Abdul Momoni, an agricultural worker from Ishwardi Upazila.
