


A devastating act of arson in the Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh in the early hours of Tuesday, November 11, 2025, has resulted in one fatality and left two others with critical injuries. Unidentified attackers set fire to a parked passenger bus, an "Alam Asia" service, around 3:15 AM in the Bhalukjan area.
The deceased is provisionally identified as the bus driver, Julhas (35), whose completely charred body was found inside the vehicle after firefighters brought the blaze under control. Police have yet to officially confirm his identity.
The critically injured victims are Sharmin Sultana Rumki and her son, Shahid Islam Badsha (20), residents of Chakradhakanai village in Fulbaria. They were inside the bus, having just arrived and waiting to return home, when the incident occurred. Both suffered severe burns and were immediately transported to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Md Abdullah Al-Mamun, the bus had stopped near a petrol station to refuel after dropping off its passengers when the arsonists suddenly attacked and fled the scene. Law enforcement officials have been dispatched, and efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
It is important to note that this specific incident occurs amid a recent surge in arson attacks across the country, particularly in the capital, raising significant security concerns. This rise in targeted violence is taking place despite increased law enforcement measures, and the report contextually mentions it is anticipated of the banned Awami League's.
