Barcelona took a major step toward the LaLiga title with a 2-0 win over Getafe on Saturday. Goals from Fermin Lopez and Marcus Rashford secured a ninth straight league victory for the Catalan giants.
The win puts Barcelona on 85 points—11 ahead of second-placed Real Madrid—with only five matches left in the season. Real Madrid had slipped earlier, drawing 1-1 against Real Betis on Friday. Getafe remains in sixth place with 44 points.
Getafe’s defense held firm for most of the first half, but Barcelona broke through just before the break. Pedri delivered a sharp through ball to Fermin Lopez, who clinicaly finished into the bottom corner.
The visitors sealed the win in the 74th minute. Following a Getafe set-piece, Barcelona launched a fast counter-attack. Rashford received the ball at the halfway line, drove forward, and fired a low strike from the edge of the box to guarantee the three points.
