Under-pressure Manchester United faces a crucial UEFA Champions League fixture against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday and Barcelona aims to maintain its perfect season when visiting Galatasaray.
United manager Michael Carrick finds himself under mounting scrutiny following a dismal start to the domestic season with just one Premier League victory and an early exit from the English League Cup.
"I understand when it’s not going well, there’s a feeling that everything needs to change" Carrick said ahead of the clash at the Metropolitano Stadium. "That’s not my mindset. To achieve anything, you have to overcome difficult moments."
In contrast, Barcelona enters its match in Turkey in dominant form under Hansi Flick, having won every match so far this campaign. Flick expressed determination to end Barcelona’s Champions League title drought stretches back to 2015.
"We have that hunger" Flick told reporters. "It’s a long journey, and we must work hard every day and approach every game with the right mentality."
In Tuesday’s other key Champions League fixtures of last season's runners-up Arsenal host Lille, Bayern Munich travel to face Viking, and Inter Milan play Club Brugge at home.
