Mirzaganj Police Station OC Abdus Salam confirmed that a general diary was formally recorded on Monday.

A general diary (GD) has been filed against Mirzaganj Upazila Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nazmul Mridha for allegedly verbally abusing and threatening to kill a local Swechchhasebak Dal (volunteer party) activist over a phone call.

The victim, Md. Elias Hossain, lodged the GD at the Mirzaganj Police Station on Monday seeking safety for himself and his family.

According to police sources, the dispute began over delayed plumbing maintenance. Elias’s uncle, Yunus Sikder, a local sanitary mechanic, was scheduled to work at Nazmul’s residence on Monday. However, Yunus could not arrive on time due to an unfinished assignment elsewhere.

Angered by the delay, Nazmul reportedly phoned Yunus at around 5:30 PM, using offensive language and issuing threats. When Elias called Nazmul later that evening at 6:40 PM to clarify why his uncle was insulted, the Chhatra Dal leader reportedly became further enraged, verbally abused Elias, and threatened his life.

The complainant stated that his family is currently living in deep insecurity due to these targeted threats.

Mirzaganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam confirmed the registration of the GD. He stated that an officer has already been assigned to investigate the allegations and take appropriate legal steps.
