A court in Dhaka today, Thursday, October 30, adjourned the hearing of three plot scam cases filed against 53 individuals, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana, until November 2. The adjournment was granted by Judge Robiul Alam of the Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 following a time plea from the state.
The six identical cases collectively involve 100 accused, including Sheikh Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, and Hasina’s children Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Radwan Mujib Siddique, and grandchildren Tulip Siddique and Azmina Siddique.
The cases concern alleged irregularities in the allocation of plots in the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project. The ACC lodged the six cases and filed charge sheets in early 2025.
A total of 54 witnesses have testified across the three cases being heard by Dhaka Special Judge Court-4.
Specifically, 19 prosecution witnesses have been examined in the case against Hasina and Rehana.
Proceedings for three other identical cases against 47 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, and Saima Wazed Putul, are ongoing at the Dhaka Special Judge Court-5.
Both courts framed charges in the six cases on July 31. Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 issued arrest warrants for the accused in its three cases as they remain absconding.
