BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is going to Chattogram after a long 20 years and 7 months. He will participate in the prayer mahfil organized for former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at the Jamiatul Falah Mosque in Chattogram City on the evening of January 18.
Party sources said that Tarique Rahman will fly from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar on January 18. After meeting the family of martyred Chhatra Dal leader Wasim Akram, he will come to Chattogram by road. There are no plans for any road meetings or speeches.
BNP leaders said that the visit is completely apolitical. Tarique Rahman will not take part in the election campaign.
However, political analysts believe that the visit will energize party leaders and activists, which can have a positive impact on BNP in the elections.
Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman said that Tarique Rahman is coming to Chattogram after a long time on January 18. This has created great enthusiasm among the leaders and activists.
On the evening of January 18, he will participate in a prayer meeting organized for former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at the city's Jamiatul Falah Mosque. On the same night, Tarique Rahman will spend the night in Chattogram. We have not been informed about the program for January 19 yet.
It is worth noting that Tarique Rahman last visited Chattogram on May 6, 2005.
