BNP's rebel candidate remains in Gazipur-2 constituency

Although nine BNP candidates have filed nomination papers in five parliamentary constituencies in Gazipur, only six candidates have filed their nomination papers on Monday, the last day for filing nomination papers.

Out of these, only one rebel candidate remains in Gazipur-2. He is the working president of the BNP Central Committee's Sramik Dal, Md. Salah Uddin Sarkar. In other constituencies, no one except the party candidates has filed their nomination papers.

Various political and independent candidates, including BNP, have filed their nomination papers in various parliamentary constituencies in Gazipur. On Monday, the last day for filing nomination papers, they went to the offices of the Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer from 10 am to 5 pm and submitted their nomination papers. There was a festive atmosphere among the candidates, workers and supporters throughout the day in the office premises of the Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officers, focusing on the submission of nomination papers.

According to party and returning office sources, in addition to the BNP nominated candidate in Gazipur-1 constituency, BNP Central Committee Executive Member Md. Mojibur Rahman, BNP Central Committee Organizing Secretary Kazi Sayedul Alam Babul, Central Committee Labor Affairs Assistant Secretary Md. Humayun Kabir Khan, Gazipur District BNP Member Secretary Ishraq Ahmed Chowdhury.

On Monday afternoon, the District Returning Officer handed over the BNP nominated candidate in Gazipur-2 constituency, Gazipur Metropolitan BNP General Secretary M Manjurul Karim Rony and BNP rebel candidate Md. Salah Uddin Sarkar, Executive President of the BNP Central Committee Labor Party. In addition, the assistant returning officers were represented by the BNP-nominated candidate for Gazipur-1 constituency, BNP Central Committee Executive Member Md. Mojibur Rahman, the BNP-nominated candidate for Gazipur-3 constituency, Health Affairs Assistant Secretary of the BNP Central Committee and Senior Joint Convener of Gazipur District BNP SM Rafiqul Islam, the BNP candidate for Gazipur-4 constituency, District BNP Joint Convener Shah Riazul Hannan, and the BNP candidate for Gazipur-5 constituency, District BNP Convener AKM Fazlul Haque Milon.

Gazipur Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Mohammad Alam Hossain said that a sufficient number of executive magistrates and law enforcement officers were deployed to maintain law and order and the election code of conduct in the district on that day.
