After 17 years in exile, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman arrived in Dhaka today, December 25, 2025. Traveling via a regular Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight from London with his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and daughter, Zaima Rahman, the aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11:40 am following a brief stopover in Sylhet.
From the airport, Tarique Rahman is proceeding to Evercare Hospital to visit his ailing mother, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
A brief gratitude-sharing event is scheduled at the 300-Foot Road (July 36 Expressway). To minimize public suffering, the party has avoided large-scale rallies, opting for a service-lane gathering on a public holiday.
Dec 26: Prayers at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and a visit to the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar.
Dec 27: Processing of NID/voter registration and visiting those injured in the July mass uprising at Pangu Hospital.
The party confirmed that Tarique Rahman will contest the 13th National Parliament Election (scheduled for February 12, 2026) from the Bogura-6 constituency. He will operate from newly prepared offices in Gulshan and Naya Paltan.
The BNP has organized 20 medical camps and a field hospital for the crowds, while the government is providing maximum security cooperation for the historic return.
