BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has issued a stern condemnation following a series of violent attacks on prominent media outlets and journalists. In a statement released early Friday, Fakhrul labeled the perpetrators as "enemies of Bangladesh," asserting that these acts of terror undermine the nation's sovereignty.
The attacks targeted major news organizations, including The Daily Star and Prothom Alo, as well as esteemed journalists like New Age Editor Nurul Kabir.
Fakhrul noted that these "shameful" incidents occurred while the nation was in mourning for Sharif Osman Hadi, a candidate for the upcoming national election who was recently killed.
The BNP leader demanded that both the killers of Hadi and those participating in "mob violence" be brought to justice immediately.
He emphasized that following the fall of the Awami League regime, the interim government’s primary duty is to unite the nation and foster an inclusive, stable, and democratic society.
Fakhrul warned that "opportunists" are waiting for moments of national crisis to incite destruction and division. He urged all political parties to act responsibly to ensure the transition to a democratically elected government.
