BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is currently able to receive treatment at Evercare Hospital, according to her personal physician and BNP Standing Committee member, Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain.

Dr. Zahid Hossain provided the update during a press briefing on Tuesday (December 2nd) in front of Evercare Hospital in Bashundhara, Dhaka. He confirmed that Khaleda Zia is able to get the treatment currently being administered. He noted that Tarique Rahman is constantly supervising the treatment. Dr. Zahid acknowledged that the chief adviser, the government, and hospital authorities are providing the best possible assistance. He urged the public to pray for her recovery and to ignore any rumors or confusion regarding her health.

Dr. Zahid Hossain stated that the medical board members are currently advising on whether there is a situation for Khaleda Zia to travel abroad for treatment. He clarified that there is no scope to travel abroad without the advice of the medical board.

Khaleda Zia has a history of multiple physical problems, including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney complications. She fell ill and had difficulty breathing after returning home from the Armed Forces Day ceremony on November 21. She was taken to Evercare Hospital on an emergency basis on November 23.

Doctors diagnosed her with pneumonia and other complications. Due to a deterioration in her condition, she was initially kept in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) (equivalent to an ICU) and was later shifted to the ICU on Sunday morning.
