Five More Children Die of Measles Symptoms; 796 New Cases Reported

Five more children have died with measles symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00 AM on Friday. During the same period, 796 new cases of confirmed or suspected measles were detected.

With these latest figures, the total number of deaths from measles and related symptoms has reached 648 since March 15 this year. The total number of infections during this period stands at 85,062.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) released these statistics in a press statement on Saturday.

According to the DGHS control room, out of the total 648 fatalities, 92 have been clinically confirmed as measles deaths, while the remaining 556 patients died with severe measles symptoms.
