EC Ready for February Polls & Referendum: CEC Briefs Chief Adviser Yunus

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin met with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to confirm the Election Commission's (EC) full preparedness to hold the national polls and the referendum simultaneously in the first half of February next year.

The CEC informed the Chief Adviser that "All preparations for holding the election are progressing smoothly and effectively." The EC delegation, including other Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Tahmida Ahmad, Md Anwarul Islam Sarker, and Brig Gen (retd) Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah, and Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, met Prof. Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna.

CEC Nasir Uddin thanked the Chief Adviser for the government's cooperation and also conveyed gratitude to the law enforcement agencies and armed forces for their support. He noted the public's engagement, which has created a nationwide "electoral atmosphere."

Chief Adviser Prof. Yunus expressed satisfaction with the EC's preparations, affirming the interim government's commitment to continue providing full support for a fair and impartial election. He emphasized the EC is "in the driver's seat" and that the government is determined to "present the nation with a beautiful election," vowing to "gift the nation the best election in its history" within the first half of February.

Other officials present included National Security Adviser Dr Khalilur Rahman and Chief Adviser's Principal Secretary M Siraz Uddin Miah.
