According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest fatalities bring the total dengue death toll to 352 nationwide this year. October alone has accounted for 107 of these deaths.
Of the four new deaths, two occurred in the Dhaka South City Corporation area while the Dhaka North City Corporation area and Mymensingh Division recorded one death each. DGHS statistics show that women account for 53% of total fatalities this year, while men account for 47%.
Since January 1, a total of 114,251 people have been hospitalized with the mosquito-borne virus nationwide. Of these patients 107,865 have successfully recovered and been discharged.
Health officials urge residents to clear stagnant water around homes and use mosquito nets as vector control efforts continue across major urban centers.
