As temperatures rise across the country this Ramadan, maintaining hydration is essential. After a long day of fasting, the body often loses vital fluids. A glass of cold, homemade lassi is not only refreshing but also an effective way to restore electrolytes and prevent dehydration.
Here are two simple, nutritious lassi recipes to add to your Iftar table.
This version provides a quick energy boost thanks to the potassium in bananas and the probiotics in yogurt.
Ingredients: 2 ripe bananas, 150g sweet yogurt, 250ml cold water, 1–2 tsp honey, and a pinch of cardamom powder.
Method: Blend the bananas, yogurt, honey, and cardamom until smooth. Add the cold water and blend again briefly. Serve chilled.
Perfect for digestion and cooling the system, this savory drink is a traditional favorite.
Ingredients: 2 cups curd (plain yogurt), 5 tbsp chopped mint leaves, 1 cup water, ½ tsp roasted cumin powder, a pinch of salt, and ice cubes.
Method: Blend the curd, mint, salt, and cumin until well combined. Add water and ice, then blend until frothy. Garnish with a few fresh mint leaves and a sprinkle of cumin before serving.
