Typhoon Dolphin Makes Landfall in China’s Zhejiang Province

Typhoon Dolphin, the 13th typhoon of the year, made landfall in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the region.

The storm first came ashore at around 5:30 p.m. on the coast of Yuhuan in Taizhou, Zhejiang, where maximum winds near its center reached 42 meters per second, equivalent to force 14 winds.

China’s National Meteorological Center said Dolphin is expected to continue moving inland and gradually weaken. However, strong winds and heavy rainfall are expected to persist across parts of eastern China.

Zhejiang and surrounding areas remain at risk of torrential rain, coastal gales and other weather-related hazards as the typhoon moves inland.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the storm and have warned residents in affected areas to remain alert to changing weather conditions.
