Pop icon Madonna has officially confirmed that her 15th studio album, Confessions II, will be released on July 3. The record serves as a direct sequel to her 2005 multi-platinum hit Confessions on a Dancefloor.
The 67-year-old singer teased the announcement by clearing her Instagram and posting lyrics from her classic hit "Hung Up." On Wednesday, she debuted a 60-second preview of the opening track, "I Feel So Free," which features a heavy synth bassline and samples her 1985 hit "Into the Groove."
For this project Madonna has reunited with British producer Stuart Price. The duo previously collaborated on the original Confessions album and worked together on her 2023 Celebration tour. Madonna described the recording process as "medicine for the soul," sharing photos of herself and her children in Price’s London studio.
In a press statement, Madonna called the new music a "manifesto," describing the dance floor as a spiritual and ritualistic space. "People think dance music is superficial, but they’ve got it all wrong," she said. "We must dance, celebrate, and pray with our bodies."
The album news comes amid a flurry of activity for the star: Coachella: Rumors suggest she may join Sabrina Carpenter on stage during the Coachella Festival this Friday.
Television: Madonna will appear in the second season of the Emmy-winning series The Studio. Filmed in Venice, her role reportedly satirizes the film industry’s attempts to produce a biopic about her life.
Music Video: Reports indicate she recently filmed a high-concept music video at a secret location in the UK.
Posters for Confessions II have already begun appearing in major cities worldwide, marking her first full-length release since 2019’s Madame X.
