Streaming platform Netflix is producing a new drama series based on the powerful and often-discussed Kennedy family, one of the most influential political families in modern history.
The series is inspired by the book JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century by Frederick Logevall, which explores the early life and political rise of John F. Kennedy.
Netflix recently released a first look titled “Behind the Scenes,” which has generated strong interest on social media.
Michael Fassbender plays Joe Kennedy Sr., the family patriarch. The cast also includes Laura Donnelly, Nick Robinson, Wyatt Russell and others in key roles.
The series will also portray major historical figures such as Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt and J. Edgar Hoover.
Production of the eight-episode first season is currently underway in London. The show is led by Sam Shaw, with Oscar-winning director Thomas Vinterberg serving as executive producer.
The first season focuses on the Kennedy family’s rise during the 1930s. It highlights family dynamics, ambition, rivalry, love, and personal struggles. A key storyline follows young John F. Kennedy as he seeks to build his own identity beyond his older brother’s shadow.
