The Chairman and Directors of Jamuna Group paid a courtesy call to Tarique Rahman, the Acting Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), at the chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Monday night.
The delegation was led by Jamuna Group Chairman and Jugantar Publisher Salma Islam. Other attendees included Managing Director Shamim Islam and Group Directors Sonia Shariat, Monika Nazneen Islam, Sumaiya Rosalin Islam, Mehnaz Islam, and S.M. Abdul Wadud.
During the meeting, the Jamuna Group leaders expressed profound sorrow over the recent death of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, who passed away on December 30, 2024. Salma Islam praised Khaleda Zia’s "glorious long political life" and her contributions to the nation.
Tarique Rahman reciprocated by honoring the legacy of Jamuna Group’s late founder, Nurul Islam. Rahman noted Islam’s significant role in Bangladesh's industrial development and inquired about the group’s current business operations.
Rahman also highlighted the editorial contributions of Jugantar and Jamuna Television, noting their roles in the country's democratic movements and the mass uprising of 2024.
The half-hour meeting was also attended by Rahman’s Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Jamuna Group Director Abdul Khaliq.
