Jagannath Dev Rath Yatra Celebrated with Fervor in Paikgachha

The Sri Sri Jagannath Dev Mahotsav-2026 was celebrated with deep devotion and a festive atmosphere in Khulna’s Paikgachha upazila. To mark the occasion, a colorful Ananda Yatra (joyous rally) took place at the upazila headquarters on Thursday afternoon.

Accompanied by the sounds of traditional drums, bells, and conch shells, the procession began at the Municipality Central Temple. Devotees enthusiastically pulled the chariot of Jagannath Dev, circling the town’s main roads before returning to the temple grounds. The area resonated with Harinam chants and Uludhavani as men and women from the Hindu community spontaneously joined the rally. Devotees offered garlands to the deity and held special prayers seeking global well-being.

The celebrations extended beyond the municipal headquarters into rural areas. Local temple committees organized 15 additional, smaller-scale Rath Yatras across various unions in Paikgachha, all marked by strong local participation and orderly arrangements.

To ensure the religious festival concluded peacefully, local administration and law enforcement agencies maintained strict security throughout the upazila, safeguarding the area's communal harmony.
