


To honor the heroes of the July uprising, the Paikgachha upazila administration organized a solemn discussion and prayer session on Thursday morning, July 16.
Held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium, the event focused on remembering the ultimate sacrifices made by the July martyrs. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wasiuzzaman Chowdhury presided over the meeting.
The gathering held special emotional weight with the presence of martyrs' family members, including Rebecca Khatun, mother of Shaheed Rakibul Hasan, and Aklima Begum, wife of Shaheed Nabi Noor.
Local government officials, political leaders, journalists, and student representatives gathered to pay their respects. Notable attendees included Assistant Commissioner (Land) Fazle Rabbi and Officer-in-Charge Zulfikar Ali, alongside local BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, former freedom fighters, and civil society members. Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Saidur Rahman hosted the proceedings.
The memorial concluded with a special prayer dedicated to the peace of the departed souls of the July fighters, led by Maulana Ashraful Islam, Imam of the Upazila Model Mosque.
