


A 64-year-old man was killed in Narail Sadar Upazila following a dispute that began over a football match between teenagers from two villages.
Mustafa Kazi died after being attacked with a sharp weapon and a hammer around 3:30 pm on Friday in Maharag village Bhadrabila union police said.
Narail Sadar Police Station OC Ajay Kumar Kundu confirmed the incident. Kazi, originally from Palaidanga village had been living in Maharag for several years.
According to relatives and police, the conflict started on June 29 when teenagers from two villages clashed during a football match at a primary school field near Bhadrabila Bazar. A second fight broke out between the groups on July 2. Local elders intervened and arranged a settlement meeting at Bhadrabila Bazar for Friday afternoon both sides agreed to attend.
While walking to the meeting, Kazi was found alone by members of the opposing group who attacked him with a hammer and leaving him critically injured. Locals and relatives rushed him to Narail District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
OC Kundu said additional police have been deployed to maintain order in the area and efforts are underway to arrest those responsible.
