Rab has arrested Parbat Roy (45)'s elder brother Sukumar Roy (50) and nephew Rabin Chandra Roy (20) on charges of killing a man named Parbat Roy (45) over a family dispute in Godagari, Rajshahi. They were arrested from Harupur Baganpara area of Rajshahi city on Sunday morning, about three weeks after the murder.

A press release sent by the RAB-5 commanding officer's office said that the two arrested are residents of Aihai Rahi village in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi. The deceased Parbat Roy was Sukumar Roy's younger brother.

According to RAB and the case report, Parbat Roy had an argument with his mother over a family matter on October 11. At one point, when elder brother Sukumar Roy got involved in the argument, a fight broke out between the two brothers. Later, while sitting at a tea shop in the village, Parbat Roy hit Sukumar with a bamboo stick. At that time, Sukumar's son Rabin brought another stick from the house and hit his uncle Parbat Roy on the head.

Parbat Roy was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital in serious condition and died the next morning on October 12. Later, the victim's wife filed a murder case with Godagari Police Station, making Rabin the main accused and Sukumar the second accused.

The accused father and son were absconding since the incident. RAB and police jointly conducted a drive and identified their location. A team of RAB-5 conducted a drive in Harupur Baganpara area of Kashiadanga Police Station this morning and arrested them.

RAB said that during initial interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder. They have been handed over to Godagari Model Police Station.
