Police have recovered the body of a missing EasyBike driver and arrested two men for his murder in Muksudpur upazila, Gopalganj.
The victim, 35-year-old Shahidul Matubbar, was killed so the suspects could steal his three-wheeler, police said.
Investigators recovered the body on Wednesday at around 5:30 PM from a bush in the Panthapara area of Rajoir upazila, located in the neighboring Madaripur district.
Shahidul, a resident of Kamalapur village in Muksudpur, went missing on the morning of June 6 after leaving home for work. When he failed to return and his phone was found switched off, his brother filed a missing person's report the next day.
Muksudpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun stated that investigators used digital tracking technology to break the clue-less case. This led to the arrest of two fellow villagers, Nur Hossain and Palash Sheikh.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. They admitted to luring Shahidul to a secluded spot, strangling him to death, and hiding his body.
Police have recovered the stolen EasyBike, and legal proceedings against the suspects are now underway.
