Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate Md. Nurul Karim Bhuiyan has emphasized the importance of self-criticism and strong collaboration between the administration and the media to ensure good governance.
Speaking at an Eid-ul-Azha greeting exchange with local journalists at the Bhawal conference room of his office on Monday afternoon, the DC described the media as the mirror of society.
"If we practice self-criticism, we can recognize our own faults just as easily as we see the faults of others. Open and constructive communication with journalists can help resolve many public issues through proper channels," he said.
Highlighting the district's potential, Bhuiyan noted that Gazipur is an economic and educational hub. "Gazipur is a prosperous district boasting six universities, thriving industries, and agricultural innovation. A city that contributes so much to the national economy must not lag behind in education, sports, and culture," he added. He also announced upcoming coordination with the Gazipur City Corporation to launch a comprehensive city clean-up initiative.
The DC praised the local media's role in highlighting development activities, environmental protection, and public grievances, expressing hope that this cooperative relationship will strengthen in the future. In response, the journalists shared their views on district development and public service delivery.
The event was attended by senior officials, including Local Government Deputy Director Ahmed Hossain Bhuiyan, Additional District Magistrate Salma Khatun, and Additional Deputy Commissioners Tania Tabassum, Shahriar Nazir, and Md. Rakibul Hasan, along with local media representatives.
