


A training and awareness meeting on animal slaughter and the preservation of sacrificial animal skins was held in Shantiganj Upazila ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha 2026.
The meeting was held on Thursday at 11 am in the conference room of Shantiganj Upazila Parishad. It was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Shahjahan and conducted by Upazila Animal Resources Officer Dr. Selim Reza.
Speakers included Upazila Agriculture Officer Mohammad Ahsan Habib, Fisheries Officer Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Upazila Public Health Engineer Atiur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Shantiganj Police Station Oli Ullah, Academic Supervisor Nur Alam Siddiqui, and local government representatives from various unions.
Also present were Chairman Shahidul Islam of Patharia Union Parishad, Chairman Lutfur Rahman Jagirder Khokon of West Birgaon Union Parishad, former Muktijoddha Commander Ataur Rahman, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Hafiz Abu Khaled, Shantiganj Press Club General Secretary Sohel Talukder, and religious scholars and madrasa officials.
The speakers emphasized proper animal slaughter practices, hygiene, and effective preservation of sacrificial hides to reduce waste and improve economic value during Eid-ul-Azha.
