A horrific murder occurred on Mother’s Day night in Sindurpur Union, Daganbhuyan, as a drug-addicted youth allegedly stabbed his mother to death. The victim, Lucky Akhter (45), was killed after refusing to give her son money for drugs. Her husband, Mostafa Bhuiyan, and daughter, Mithila, were also seriously injured while attempting to intervene. Police have since arrested the son, Md. Rafi (21).

Local sources report that around 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 10, Rafi—the son of expatriate Mostafa Bhuiyan—demanded money from his mother in their Dilpur residence. When she refused, Rafi reportedly switched off the house's main power supply to plunge the home into darkness. He then launched a frenzied attack on his mother using two knives he had reportedly purchased online.

When Rafi’s sister, Mithila, attempted to hide in the bathroom, he followed and attacked her as well. Neighbors, alerted by the family's screams, rushed to the house and transported the three victims to Feni 250-bed General Hospital. Doctors there pronounced Lucky Akhter dead on arrival. Due to the severity of their injuries, Mostafa and Mithila were transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for advanced care.

Following the attack, locals detained Rafi and handed him over to the authorities. Daganbhuyan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Faizul Azim Noman confirmed the arrest, stating that the body has been sent for an autopsy and legal proceedings are underway.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community. Residents of the Dilpur and Brickfield areas claim that drug trafficking has surged recently, leading to increased social degradation. They are calling for immediate administrative action to curb the local drug trade.
